Adolescent Counseling

Adolescent Mental Health Counseling

As a child and family therapist of twenty plus years I meet the WAC (Washington Administrative Code 388-865-0150) as a Child Mental Health Specialist. As a Child Mental Health Specialist I work with children and teens between the ages of four and eighteen years old.

In order to be qualified as a Child Mental Health Specialist, I have met the WAC requirements by participating in over one hundred hours of specialized training with youth and their families that have social and emotional issues. Another part of obtaining the Child Mental Health Specialization was my experience working, for over five years, under the supervision of a Child Mental Health Specialist.

Background and Experience

My experience includes working at a Ryther Child Center, a residential treatment center for children and teens with social and emotional challenges, Seattle Mental Health as a child and adolescent clinician and a school-based therapist, and Childhaven where I served as a director of the therapeutic intervention program for children birth to five years old.

I have maintained my private therapy practice since 1991. I treat children and teens with anxiety, depression, and school adjustment issues as well as those coping with parental divorce.

Focus on Adolesents

Teens that come to therapy can expect a warm and supportive environment where finding their own voice is encouraged. I have expertise in working with life transitions including going off to college, or finding that first job. I work effectively with affective issues such as anxiety and depression, crisis, and trauma. I work mindfully with anger management and stress management.
